I have the NZXT s340 case and my SDD is directly under my GTX 970 (1 or 2 millimeters away). Whenever I use my PC for a while or play games my pc freezes and the SSD feals hot. Could the freezing be my SSD overheating?

System:
CPU: AMD FX-9590
CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Seidon 120M 86.2 CFM
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD3 ATX AM3+
Memory: G.Skill TridentX 16GB
Storage: AMD 120GB Solid State and Seagate Barracuda 1TB
Video Card: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 970 G1 Gaming
Case: NZXT s340
PSU: EVGA 850W 80+ Bronze

Solution
SSD drives have a nominal working temperature range just like mechanical based hard drives.

Around 55 to 65c So yes it will cause a freeze of the system.

Nand flash used in SSD drives does not like to get too hot.

And malfunctions due to excessive heat conditions.

Move the SSD drive or at least add a fan to blow cool air over the case housing the SSD circuit board If it seems hot to touch on the surrounding case of the ssd.

Installed Speccy but the SSD apparently does not have a thermostat.

Here's the pic:

Edit: HWMonitor doesn't show a temp ether.

No space for a fan there. Should I move it to the HDD area (temps about 35C)?
