Hi I just upgraded my gpu without yet upgrading my cpu/ram and I know the ram is bad but i want to know how bad they are actually bottlenecking my gpu.
I took some benchmarks on unigine heaven and while I was benchmarking my cpu never even went past 50% but people told me that it would bottleneck my gpu. So is my cpu actually bottlenecking and if so, how bad? I'm waiting until Christmas to upgrade my ram and cpu so is my rig ok to run games on high-ultra settings until December?
Gpu: Asus r9 280x top (overclocked 1230coreclock 1650memoryclock)
Cpu: Intel core 2 quad q8300
Ram: 4 x 2gb ddr2 400mhz

Unigine Heaven 4.0
Fps: 50.4
Score: 1268
API: Direct3D11
Quality: Ultra
Tessallation: Extreme
AA: x8
Resolution: 1280x1024 Fullscreen (i use it because it's the highest I can get 75hz on.-.)
Also how much does ram speed really matter in gaming performance? Like how much of a performance increase can i expect if I were to upgrade the ram alone?

Thankyou, that is extremely cheap and helpful. I'll be purchasing it in 2 weeks when I get paid.
What kind of performance increase can I expect from these parts?

It will truly be night and day. You're gaining 1466 Mhz on the RAM from just 400 to 1866. Hugely faster. You're also gaining two more cores in the processor and at over 1.5 GHz more (when AMD turbo boost is enabled), that is a world of difference. Than q8300 is semi-ancient. It's built on what is now an archaic 45 nm manufacturing process, that makes it quite a bit slower compared to the 32 nm of the 6300. Put it with a 280x and you have yourself a nice machine. Just make sure your psu is 550 watts or more.
