I am just about to give up with screen recorders. I've recently got a new custom built pc, with Windows 7 and no screen recorder I have tried will record games properly on it.

I have tried these 3 so far:

Camstudio - After I finally got it to record sound after mucking around in the sound settings, I tried recording a game. After I exited the game and stopped the recording, I then got an error message that it was unable to compress and create the recording. When I tried to playback the file in various media players, I got error messages and no picture.

Fraps: When I playback the recording, I see a blank screen with just the mouse cursor movements and nothing else.

Liolo Game Recorder: I tried several times with this one, but each time the recording was a flop. For the first recording I tried I left everything on default settings. The first time I tried recording a game, the video played out all small and blurry even though the file was over 1GB. You couldn't see a thing! I then changed the resolution setting from "Original" to 1080p and recorded again. This time when I played back the file, there was no picture at all, just audio. I then tried a third time and changed to 720p and played an old game at a resolution of 1280x960 (it won't do 1080p). This time it recorded the windows desktop in 1280x960 even though I was playing the game.

I don't know what to do. I may have to resort to bringing the camcorder out and recording it the old fashioned way, but I really don't want to do that.

Can anyone recommend any recording software/codecs/video settings etc that I should use?

If you like, I could upload the recordings somewhere so you can see what I'm talking about. I can also show you the settings in each application if you like.

Thanks for your help.

I have a Nvidia GTX 750 Graphics Card. Thanks for your help. How do I use Shadowplay?
