Should I get a Dell xps 8700 i7 with 8gb of DDR3 ram or a i5 version with 12gb of ram ?

I am going to use the Dell xps 8700 for editing,playing games for ex (minecraft,Battle field 4,Team fortress 2) and I am going to edit videos,search online,watch videos and use it for work also (student work).So do I go for the i5 processor or the i7 proccessor?

12GB of RAM makes no sense since it will be divided 8/4 on the two channels and thus make your RAM run in single-channel mode (there are some caveats that will allow 8GB to run in dual-channel and the other 4 in single channel). Video editing (provided you use a real editing program) may benefit from the stronger and more capable i7 processor (and more RAM), but it may also depend on what graphics card goes with the processor.

BF4 and a system together used less than 6GB (to my best memory). Adobe things even less, so I would go with 8 GB and stronger CPU.
