these 2 are plenty of power and high quality. the evga is even semi modular and has a good rebate right now

The FX-9590 is ~220W, the HD 7850 is ~120W and the average RAM/Mobo/Fans/HDD's etc. come to around 100-150W. I'd go for a quality 600W+ unit like one of these:

EEK. That's 220Ws o' burning love. I would want at least550 600W. What else do you have in the system?

220+110 = 330 + 50 for other stuff = 380 at 70% of full load = 544W. At the moment, the Antec NEO ECO 620W is a bargain at $40 after rebate.

XFX TS 550W, or the EVGA B2 750W fro $50 would be a great choice.

Just so you know, I would never use or recommend that CPU. What motherboard do you have?

very much so. the ones we listed are loads better than the cx series. i'd avoid those and go for the much higher quality ones we suggested.

I don't see why they recommend 1KW, it doesn't make any sense. The average gaming PC pulls like 300W under load including CPU, probably 450-500W with this CPU. 600W+ is fine, 650W gives you a bit of headroom.

Because people use absolutely terrible quality PSUs and they need to protect themselves as a company. Just like how GPUs state the require WAY more power than they really do.

Yeah I get that but normally they say 400W when it needs 300W and 500W when it needs 400W etc. Not 1000W when it needs 500-600W haha, that's insane.

could also be psychological as well. reading "i need 1000w to run this thing it must be pretty freaking bad ass!!!" on the box sure is a nice marketing gimmick. that would explain a lot as well.
