So after taken on board what people have said regards to getting a new graphics card Asus GTX 750Ti 2Gb the thing didn't work! as didn't have a 6 pin cable from the power supply I've ordered the Trueway adaptor an also a new psu after sending my pc specs to Maplin replied this should be a good upgrade Powercool 650W ATX PC Power Supply the thing that had me worried an a headache was the (should) I scoured sites an forum's trying to find the right exact dimensions. But at end of day if it doesn't fit can go back? So suppose what I'm asking have I made an ok choice my system is HP Pavilion p6-2302eam already said what psu is. Also how do you really know if what you have received is a new item as shouldn't it be wrapped in cellophane with authentication sticker? Or am I just being picky as I don't know if it works the graphics card or not.

Solution
Powercool is a junk brand. I do not know who would recommend that but they have no clue about PCs. Also 650w is WAY more than you need. 450w is plenty.

Get a 450-550w unit from Antec, XFX, Seasonic
Yep if it means getting a lower wattage PSU, it's always better to get the higher quality one. A good PSU will last for multiple builds and will keep the rest of the parts safer.

I didn't see a budget but I would, if you can afford it, try to get a qaulity 650 watt unit. It may be overkill but it will give you room to upgrade the rest of your parts in the future.

Hi thanks for your advice Maplin have stated what they have chosen for me is right for my system? regards to the power supply your suggesting the XFX Core 450W 80+ Bronze is only available either from Scan or Ebuyer it's cheaper at Ebuyer but then with P+P. The 550W is under ETA review at Scan have to pre-order and the 550W at Maplin are Corsair and you said no to that?

Hi so out of curiosity why is the Antec cheaper than XFX Core series? such as the 0-761345-10619-1 - 450W Antec NEO ECO, 80PLUS Bronze, 1x120mm, ATX, PSU and I finally decide on the XFX you originally linked me to, as you guessed I'm un-educated regards to PSU and what id need personally for my system.
