My computer boots from an Intel SSD which has Windows 7 Ultimate installed on it. However I have two secondary hard drives. One of which crashed and beeps when I start my computer up. Although the operating system is installed on my SSD which isn’t compromised the computer won’t start because I get the message “Disk boot failure, insert system disk and press enter”.

The hard drive which beeps is completely offline and I can’t access it at all, but it has nothing to do with Windows so I can’t understand why I can’t use my computer. What can I do to be able to use my computer again?

My motherboard is a Gigabyte Ultra Durable 3. Any ideas? Thanks a million

Windows has a bad habit of selecting the wrong drive to write the boot sector too in multidrive systems. This is likely what happened here, your dead drive was the one Windows was booting from. Not a big deal, you just need to write the boot sector onto your SSD. It's been a while since I've done this, so hopefully the advice I'm giving you will work :)

First off, unplug any other drives you have in the system except for the drive that you have Windows installed on. While you've got your system open, make sure your SSD is on SATA port 0. You can double check this is the bios. Also, set up your SSD as your primary boot device in the bios.

Now it's time to go grab your Windows 7 install disc or a Windows 7 recovery disc. Hopefully, you...

The goal hear is to boot into repair mode and run a few commands which should rebuild your boot sector. This is a pretty decent guide you can follow:

Bitwright thank you for your reply, and for the guide. As soon as I get a Windows 7 CD I'll give it a shot! Thanks

Thanks bitwright. I was able to get things working again although it wasn't exactly as the guide you linked instructed. I did what it instructed but could not get rid of the BOOTMGR error so I ran from the CD again and did the windows repair. After that it booted and things are looking A okay. Thanks again.
