Unable to boot into Windows

I have a Toshiba Satellite A135-S4527 laptop running Vista. I am unable to boot into Windows. When I try to do so I just get the black screen that says with "Microsoft Corporation" with the progress bar. The progress bar is constantly running, but it never leaves this screen and gets to the desktop. When I say never, I means that I have left this running for at least 8 hours with no progress.

On the other hand, it boots quickly and easily into both Safe Mode and Safe Mode with Networking.

Any suggestions?

Thank you.

Thank you for the suggestion. Unfortunately System Restore says that there are no restore points. If you have any other suggestions I'd love to hear them. I've been struggling with this for 3 days.

Also, I'd consider doing a System Recovery, but when I choose F8 and the "Repair Computer" option, I get the same Microsoft Corp progress bar for a few seconds and then the screen goes blank (but the computer stays on). Is there some other way to get to System Recovery?
