Razer DeathAdder 3.5G Click, Drag and Scroll Wheel Issues

Since 2011 I have been using a Razer DeathAdder 3500 mouse. It is a great mouse. Or, at least it has been.

Recently it has started displaying some funky behaviors.

-- When I click and drag something, occasionally the mouse will lose the "hold" state (the mouse button being down) and the drag operation will complete in an unpredictable spot. (this has caused me to accidentally drag folders inside of other folders in Windows Explorer, or drag browser windows to strange locations.) It is annoying.

-- Sometimes a single click operation will result in two click operations being performed (not a double-click). For instance, a checkbox will turn on, then off immediately because of a second click event being passed to that checkbox.

-- The scroll wheel sometimes "jumps" in the opposite direction I am scrolling. So if you are at the top of a webpage (for instance) and scroll up, nothing should happen. But for me, instead I will see the page "flicker" as it moves slightly down and then back up. This happens in all applications, not just browsers, and happens with up as well as down direction.

Has anyone experienced similar issues with this mouse before? Does it need to be cleaned somewhere? I know the Razer mice are supposed to use really good hardware, but could it be wearing out? Do I need to get a new one?

Thanks in advance

I guess it just the way it is - cheap switches - I was looking to replace my mouse due to left button issues [started acted funky ] and see in reviews lots of the same after some good use

then I got one that scrools up good but down is not as good and takes extra effort

to me its just the cheap china made junk you stuck to deal with

look at logitec back in the day I could abuse the heck out of there mouse and got great service out of them , tough and well made now just run of the mill same as the rest

all you can do is replace the one you got to see is its the mouse - looks like you got god service from it and it may be time to replace it ?? 4 years of use is not that bad - I'd call it good under my pounding I give them

its all about cheaper -better - china ? if the mouse has a 2 year warrantee seems that's where it about lasts to ?

I do believe it is age of the mouse, I started having the same exact issues with my 2012 Razer Deathadder. I had to replace it because it was doing it so often. I have now upgraded to a Deathadder Chroma and the problems are all gone. Razer do have amazing hardware but after 3+ years they slowly start to fail on you, I guess they just use cheap switches.

4 years of good gaming use to me if good [opinion] I get rough pounding on things / slamming it down after a cheap frag and all this last one just made 2 years and 6 months I was last using if I got 4 years out of it I would of been more satisfied [more opinion] I think it served you well

all you can hope for is if the replacement one will last the same

i had the 3.5g myself and it was starting to develop issues - its a pretty cheap fix replacing the switches though i bought another on ebay for $30 as a backup. it was bought in 2010 and it only died this past year so about 4 years of everyday use. while i've gotten a bit more life out of other mice, that is not bad for the wear and tear i put them through.

the double click issue has to do with the tiny spring steel piece in the microswitches for the buttons which goes flat over time. you can buy the microswitches for dirt cheap (like 8 for $10 cheap) and solder replacements on. the mouse is easy enough to open and get to the switches. technically you can fix them although it a real PITA and often doesnt end well (more often you break the switch instead of fixing it).

the scroll up issue has to do with the small hump/bump on the wheel switch which goes flatter over time so it slides more instead of sticking where it should. it can be technically bent back out with a small screwdriver to get back the clicky feeling back without the scrollback although its not going to be like a new mouse and you can easily ruin the clicky feeling if you do it wrong. replacement switches are available although a bit more expensive than the others. i think they were $3-10 or so for one.

ultimately you can fix your mouse for $10 or less if you wanted.

But it has to be said that 3050 is the weakest sensor in the entire lineup, it cant compare to 3888 or 3989 on terms of performance.

thing I noticed is it tracked way better on the bare desk top then it did with any pad only thing that wen wrong with the perrixx was the left click/primary fire button and that was 3 years of hard use /abuse - then it was one of the first ones to be sold at newegg so it cost a bit more then the 15 bucks it is now ?????

if I thought I would get the same quality and life for that 16 bucks I would buy it once more and still may do so if I don't find somthig else I like to replace the one I got now
