Do you already have a CPU - the two mobos are different sockets and can't use the same CPUs on them, the Intel Z77 is an 1155 socket that will use either a Sandy Bridge or an Ivy bridge CPU where the Z87 (which is newer) is socket 1150 and takes the Haswell CPUs - I'd go the newer the Z87-A which is a great mobo
