Hello, recently I bought new RAM. It's a DDR3 4GB 1600MHz CL11 . My computer worked fine without it, no problems at all besides the fact that it was slow (reason why I bought RAM). After I've installed the new RAM, my computer would freeze. Mostly I play games and that's when it happens but it has also happened while watching a movie/videos.
To describe the freeze: everything on the screen doesn't move, it's not possible to do anything and I've tried to wait. The computer doesn't turn off until you unplug it/turn it off manually. And also it causes an awful noise...like a scratching sound and it doesn't come from the computer but from the speakers.
It's definitely something to do with the RAM because when I take it out, I do not encounter this problem.
My computer: Acer Aspire M3920
Processor: Intel Core i5-2300 CPU @2.8GHz
Original RAM: 3GB
Operating system: 64bit Windows 7
Graphics card: I replaced an integrated one few years ago with a new one at the time NVIDIA Geforce GTX 550TI which also forced me to replace my PSU because the original didn't provide enough power for the graphics card.
I've also checked if this RAM is compatible with my computer and if the motherboard supports 1600MHz and it does. I also tried both RAM sockets and both cause the same problem.
Thank you in advance for your replies.
