The i7 4790k is 280 at a nearby micro center which is a great price but the msrp on the 6700k is supposed to be 313 which if sold at around that price I would rather buy for the performance increase and better chipset/RAM. Will waiting be worth it? Is it likely to be sold at a 310-330 price point soon?

If you're going to go hard, the extra PCI-E lanes might help, especially if you're going to be using more than one GPU. Mind you a 4790k is still great for 2 way Sli. If you're going to get one card, then there's no real draw to the Skylake/Z170/DDR4 setup. You wont see a noticeable performance increase for the premium you pay with Skylake yet.
