Deciding on a modem and router (I've chosen a few already)

I really just want recommendations based on what you've all had good or bad experiences with so far.

**The setup**
We've got 16mpbs through Windstream, it's DSL.

**The needs**
The house needs a good all-in-one modem/router. My dad and stepmom are the ones using the modem and router in the house, and they aren't gamers. They typically just watch videos and browse basic webpages and Facebook - stuff like that. They don't stream or watch Netflix. They have a laptop, 2 phones, and a tablet. It might need a couple ethernet connections just in case, but mostly it is for wifi.
My room, which is separated from the house, above the garage, will have its own line, modem and router. I'm a really heavy user, and I want to make the most of the 16mbps, but I don't want to break the bank. I game a lot, stream a lot, and all the other typical usages intensified because I'm usually on a few things at once - Spotify + a game, Netflix + some tabs, Xbox One, etc. I have my gaming PC, a phone, Xbox One, and a laptop. I want my PC and console to be ethernet connected.

**My choices so far**
These are what I've come up with so far. I think they're compatible, but I mainly just want feedback about how good a choice they'd be.
For the house (dad and stepmom): router option & modem option ... not sure if an all-in-one would be better.
For me (separate line, separate from the house): router option 1 & router option 2 & modem option

I listed the same modem for both me and my dad because... it doesn't seem to matter as much. If you know of a better one, or have concerns about this one, please let me know!

Any recommendations are greatly appreciated, and let me know if you need to know anything else. Like I said, I'm pretty sure it's a DSL connection, and the *advertised* speed is 16mbps.
Thanks!

It is a matter of personal preference if you use a combo unit or 2 separate devices. Mostly you want 2 devices if you can not find a router with the features you like that has a modem built in. There likely is no difference in performance 16m is pretty slow now days for devices it would hard to find something that could not easily run that fast.

I assume you know that you can not hook 2 modems to the same internet connection. You will need 2 completely different phone lines and accounts to hook up 2 dsl modems.

I spoke with a local Windstream guy on the phone and he said adding a line would be free, the speed increase would be an added $10/month, and the modem would be an added $7 a month for theirs, which I can choose not to use. So I see no reason not to add a second line, which he said was free so I'm going to hold him to it and just use a modem I buy.
