I bought a Lenovo ThinkCentre m71e that has the following specs:
Processor: i5 2400(LGA1155)
PSU:240w
Graphics: Radeon HD 7470 Low Profile (later on replaced with an MSI Low Profile GTX 750Ti)
OS: Windows 8.1 (Later upgraded to Windows 10)

I'm using it for schoolwork and occasional gaming.

I've been using it for weeks now. It didn't have any issues when I replaced the graphics card. After few weeks of research, I've discovered the i7 3770S.

Here's a comparison of it with my i5 2400:

They have the same socket number and the i7 3770s consumes less power and performs better than the i5 2400. So I guess the question is, is it possible for me to make the upgrade. and if it is, just in case, possible, will it give a big performance boost on my PC?

In terms of gaming performance, there really isn't much of an increase between your 2400 and the 3770.
Most games perform the same on i5s and i7s. Plus, your 750ti will be a bottle neck to both cpus, so you would be better off saving your money and keeping the 2400.

I'm aware of the bottleneck because of the 240w PSU. But the i7 3770S has a lower power consumption (around 40w less) than the i5 2400. Plus, I'm not that concerned about gaming right now. Most of my homeworks are video editing, and I've heard from some that video editing is more CPU tasking. Considering this, do you think it's still worth it to keep the i5 2400?

Yes, the 3770s is a little better at tasks such as video editing, but it won't be tremendously better. You just have to ask yourself if the money you'll spend on the upgrade is worth it for the small performance you'll gain in video editing.
Either way, you'll definitely want to upgrade that psu

maybe you wanted to say that the 750ti is a bottleneck in the system. the i5 2400 and the i7 3770s WONT bottleneck the 750ti in any situation.

Thanks everyone for the answer so far. But it's not just only the performance boost I'm after. I'm running on a 240w power supply and the i7 3770s consumes less power (like 40w less than the i5 2400). With that $190 priced i7 3770s on ebay, and the lesser toll on my psu, u think it's still not worth a try??
