New CPU installed but system won't boot or turn on power light

Hi guys,

On Wednesday I decided to upgrade my CPU and so, I swapped out my old Pentium Anniversary CPU for a new Core i5-4690k. That was the easy part.

The hard part was getting the rig to work again after that.

I hooked everything up, turned the system on... and the system-while it did turn on-didn't boot. Nor did the power LED or HDD LED come on. The CPU was working as the thermal paste did manage to stick on from the heatsink with heat-so that was one positive out of that. The GPU does work as the system was running perfectly the day before when I had the old CPU in. And the new DVD drive I bought also worked, so did the HDD.

But nothing came on the screen and nothing seemed to run properly. Tried everything-even popped the old CPU in-but nothing worked.

I reconnected everything one by one, and popped the new CPU back in, and the rig managed to start up and run for most of Wednesday night and all of yesterday. This morning, it worked, but while I was playing a game, the system cut out and rebooted. Then the problem above reappeared.

Anyone know what the issue is? I know it isn't the CPU as with the heatsink, cooler and all that stuff in, it should definitely work (plus, it's a new one too). I think the PSU might be struggling to provide enough power... but that's a thought. Mobo shouldn't be stuffed up as everything turns on and the CPU still heats up and seems to work.

Here's my specs:
CPU: Intel Core i5-4690k
Mobo: MSI Z97 Gaming 3
RAM: 2x 8GB Kingston HyperX 1866MhZ
HDD: 1 TB WD Blue Caviar
GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 960
PSU: Thermaltake 500@

Thanks,
