I'll try to keep this quick. I was trying to install an ssd as a side drive not a main drive or boot drive, the sole purpose of this drive is to record videos/render in sony vegas, so I got a 60gb one.

The problem is I installed both the sata 3 calbe to my montherboard and to my ssd and the powercable from my powersupply to my ssd, yet when I go to my computer I cannot find the new drive.
Can I please get some help? Do I have to reinstall windows on it?

Additional information (Organized in how I think the priority is)
- Microsoft Windows 8.1
- H81 Motherboard
- 430W Power Supply
- Original Drive: 1TB 7200RPM HDD
- NVIDIA GTX 960 4GB
- Intel Core i3 4370 CPU
- 8GB 1600MHz Memory

Possibly try a different SATA 3 cable or port on the motherboard.

I removed it from the sata 3 port on my motherboard and put it in the sata 2 port on my motherboard, same size, still nothing.

I don't know how to check BIOS but when I used the cable from my optical drive it seems to work, can you please look ~2 comments above this one and see the screenshot and tell me what to do to format it please?

Ah...well then it IS seen in Disk Management. "Disk 1"
Select GPT, and continue on.

this is what it says now, how do i actually format it, I don't see it in my computer

In the area where it says unallocated, you should be able to right click it and select new simple volume. then you can setup a partition (should be ntfs) and format it. This should also give it a drive letter which is the last step to make it show up under My Computer

It shows New spanned volume and new striped volumes as grayed out and I can't click it...

It also shows Convert to dynamic disk, convert to MBR disk, properties and help. These on the other hand I can click.

There's only one profile on my computer, its barely half a month old. When I press the windows button on my keyboard it says Administrator in the top right, so I'm assuming I am.
