I wanted to build a desktop for quite some time, the problem is, Idon't know which parts are compatible to others, so I hope you guys could help me. I have a monitor, keyboard, mouse & OS, so those parts don't have to be included in the part list.

Alternatively, I'd like to upgrade my p6516f to run games like TF2 faster. Any advice?

PCI-e is going to fit in any motherboard except mini ITX because that only has one PCI-e slot and you'll want a graphics card too.

In terms of the CPU I think an i5 would be best, excellent gaming performance and still very good for your Photoshop etc.

In terms of RAM, I'd get 8GB but on a motherboard that can accept 16GB with 4 slots so you can easily upgrade it if you need to.

If you can make do with 250GB as well I'd get a SSD now and perhaps add a hard drive later, it would make the whole system feel faster and it is much easier to do it this way around rather than trying to add the SSD later.

Both builds posted above are good gaming systems for the price.

- Do you play any other games though?
- Do you have any preferences on the look, size or quietness of the case?
- Will the PC be used for anything other than gaming?
- What resolution will you be playing at?
- Is the budget in US dollars?
- Would you prefer the best performance you can get for the budget or the cheapest system that will fit your purpose?

If you can answer those kinds of questions you could get some even better recommendations though.

Not too often, no preferences on the case really, I use Photoshop and Lightroom a bunch, 1600x900, yes, and the former.

Will there be room for my Netis Wireless-N PCI card, and will it fit? Unfortunately I usually don't get to connect to ethernet.

I also realized I already have the same hard drive recommended here.

Also, my current OS is 7 Enterprise, so should I stick with it, or buy 7HP for $80 to upgrade to W10, or just buy W10 for $120?

Thank you.

Very similar to the build suggested above to be honest but should do a good job for your usage.
