Hello, I recently built a new gaming PC, but I did not purchase a optical drive because I would not have had a use for it. I still need windows for the PC, and I am aware that you can use a USB Flash drive to download it. I have done tons of research but I still do not understand how it all works. I downloaded this tool from the Microsoft website-

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-8/create-reset-refresh-media

I assume it need a product key. My question is where can I purchase a LEGIT product key for windows for a clean install..? Or do I even need one?

Solution
you absolutely need a key to do the install from the windows 8 tool. same thing with windows 10.

you can buy windows 10 from microsoft and they will send you a usb.
i would strongly recommend only purchasing it from microsoft.
also, if you just built a gaming machine you will want win 10 to support newer games with direct x 12 to get the best performance.
not to mention windows 8 stinks compared to 10.
