Hello guys can u please clear my doubt. is it better to go with a gpu with more vram or a higher version of gpu with less vra

I was thinking of buying a laptop. There r two laptop in my budget. One has gtx920m with 4gb ddr3 vram and other one has gtx 940m with 2gb ddr3 vram. Which one will perform better in gaming?? Pls help me out. Thank you

since laptops usually run at lower resolutions than desktops (1600 x 900 or 1366 x 768) vram becomes less important. you will most likely benefit more from the faster model.

the other thing if the laptop gpu have is own dedicated memory it will be better .

I think you are misunderstanding something. Your first comment still does not make sense. He is asking about two laptops with dedicated graphics. Why are you telling him a laptop with dedicated graphics would be better? I know the difference between dedicated and integrated.

Guys spec sheet of d laptop mentioned tat it has GeForce 940M 2 GB Discrete DDR3 Memory.. Not ddr5

sorry that ddr part was a mistype on my end. fixed original post. just saying 940m and 920m are both discrete/dedicated. I don't understand why he is telling you it would be better to get discrete/dedicated graphics when that is what you are getting. I'd ignore scout_03 on this one if i were you unless he can explain that better.

i explain the dedicated means the gpu have is own memory chip on and the discrete use the system memory i know this because the laptop i own have this feature to ne read from the link .
