Today I recieved another 2x4gb Corsair Vengeance sticks to go with the 2x4gb Corsair Vengeance sticks I already have. I put all four into my Motherboard and started my pc and... Well it started up, shut down, started up, shut down over and over. I tried the 2 new ones alone to see if they work, and they do but having all 4 in my pc will not start. Anyone know if I have to change anything in the BIOS for all 4 to work or have any other ideas why this may be?

CPU - i5-4670k MoBo - Gigabyte z87-hd3 GPU - Geforce GTX 770 (4gb)

Not sure if I need to add any other details about my pc

I tried clearing the CMOS and updating my BIOS to the latest version (F8) however it still does not work.

I also know I do not have any bad slots as I have used the 2x4gb ram in both of the dual slots. 1,3 and 2,4 and it worked.

I don't known the full specifics on why, but hopefully someone with more RAM knowledge can provide that, because I know it's true. You're playing the lottery when mixing any RAM not purchased in the same pack - might work might not work together. There is a thread called "DDR DRAM Myths Debunked" which provides info on all this stuff.

"Simply put, mixing DRAM from different packages is a crapshoot, even when you have two identical packages of the same exact DRAM model. I would like to add that DIMMs that don’t appear to work well together often, but not always, can be helped with voltage and/or timing adjustments. There are a couple of examples in "DDR3 Memory: What Makes Performance Better?" where two of the companies didn’t market 32GB sets of 2400 MT/s DRA..."

Ok so I raised the -system agent voltage - CPU IO Analog -CPU IO Digital voltage to +200 each. I turned off XMP and now it is working with all 4 sticks. Is there any disadvantage with disabling XMP and is there a risk to my CPU raising those volts?
