I'm trying to play game on med-high setting but I can't with the intergraded card my pc came with. Is there any way to get a new graphics card to work with it. Or am I screwed because it's intergraded? I have a $200-$300 spending range.

Specs
Processor: intel(R) core(TM) i7-3770 CPU @3.40GHz
Ram: 16GB
System type:64-bit
Windows 8.1
Intel hd graphics 4000
1tb hard drive
Power supply max 300

If I don't have to change it out would be nice but if I do ill do it,

There is no problem adding a dedicated graphics card.
Any will massively improve your gaming.
With a 300w psu, you can buy a card as good as a GTX750ti ($150) that does not need a 6 pin power connector.

If you want to go stronger, you need a better psu. A $300 budget will buy you a GTX960 and a suitable 500w psu with some change left over.

If I have to then yea. Any graphics cards and psu's in mind.
I have $2-$300 money range

My suggestion is to buy a EVGA GTX750ti for about $120.

I think you will be very pleased at the improvement over integrated graphics.
The reason for the EVGA brand is that they have a 90 day free step up program that allows you to get full purchase price of your GTX750ti applied to a stronger upgrade card if you think you need it.
Read the fine print at their web site. You need to register the card within 14 days of purchase, I think to be eligible.

With that 300W PSU, the best dGPU you can get is a 750Ti, which will be a lot more powerful than your current iGPU, but is still pretty low on the gaming scale. If you can upgrade to a 400W PSU, you could get a 960. If you can upgrade to a 500W PSU, you can upgrade to a 970 or several of the AMD GPU's.

Personally, I would get a Tier-1 or Tier-2 500W PSU and then get which ever GPU catches your eye and fits within your budget best.
