Is it a good idea to use an NVIDIA GPU with and AMD CPU? Depending on the answer, what is the best GPU for ~$150? I have decided to use the AMD FX-6300 3.5GHz 6-Core Processor.

you are welcome to use an nvidia gpu with an amd processor.

at $150 there really isn't an nvidia gpu that sits in that price bracket. the 750ti can run anywhere from $90-130 and the gtx960 can run anywhere from $170-220. amd has quite a few models that are in the $120 to $180 range. right now your best bet as far as performance would be the r9-270x
