Older hardware works for borderlands 2. I'm running an old system with a Sapphire 9600GT and get framerates capped at 30 to 60. According to Fraps, my frames are generally in the 40's. So maybe even look at a GeForce 9800GT or if you want to move up to something slightly newer try the AMD R260X

+1 if you can find a $100 750ti or a $75 750 (have seen both on sale at those prices a few times).

BL2 Ultra does challange a lot of GPUs like my old 670 and we're not talking dips but entire parts of the game where fps are low so I think you are expecting a lot, not because it's the craziest best looking game, the engine isn't that great be sure to use PhysX off or low.
