How is this build for 1080p gaming? Is it worth it to invest in the new Skylake CPU?

Attached is the build I have been thinking about purchasing. Thus far, I only have the PSU and monitor listed. I wanted to know how good is this build for gaming at 1080p? The price cap I am working with is anything under $1500 and I do plan on upgrading to 1440p in the future. But in a few years time so nothing that is coming up soon. I have been looking at the new skylake CPUs and the i5-6600k has caught my eye. Since I don't have any of the parts yet minus the PSU and monitor and the upgrade (with mobo and RAM in mind) would cost me about ~$60 extra, I was thinking it might be worth it to make the upgrade since I want this to be a build that will last me a while and that I can build off of if necessary.

My PC is used exclusively for gaming and web-browsing, nothing more. My logic behind the 6600k and the rest is that since I plan on upgrading in the future (besides the performance changes, even if only 10-15% increase), if I am going to upgrade sometime in the future I might as well just get the parts now since they are available. Also, i'm already throwing down this much money on a rig so investing the extra ~$60 seems appropriate.

How is the rest of my rig though? I know its probably not the most cost-efficient but I wanted a good solid build that would run my games solid on 1080p and that I could build off of in the future to make the move to 1440p in 1-2 years time. Any help or advice is appreciated, this is my first build ever and my first (and current) computer was a premade $300 dell computer in 2008 just as a point of reference, I am very desperate for something that can actually run games lol.

Thanks man I appreciate it! I've been doing a lot of looking around and research on different parts and I wanted to come up with a real nice build, glad to know I made some right choices :). Yea, i'm really leaning towards the Skylake myself, the real goal in my mind is to have this build last so that when I do make the switch to 1440p, all I have to change out is my GPU and monitor. All the while pooping on whatever games I throw at it in 1080p.

I am slightly concerned though that since the new 6600ks don't come with stock coolers that my hyper 212 evo might not be enough if I decide to overclock (which I may or may not depending on how games run with stock settings).

Something else that is important as well is regarding the OS, if I decide to buy Windows 8.1 now and choose later on to upgrade to Windows 10 would I still be entitled to the year with which to upgrade for free or is that for pre-existing Windows 7 and 8 users? I don't know how I feel about Windows 10 at the moment and I want to know if I can hold off for now or if I should just give in and purchase 10.

Hyper 212 should be fine for a good OC, have used them on Haswell up through 4.6. I'd probably go ahead and get Win 10, hated Win8, but been running 10 on AMD rig since the original Beta and it's pretty solid, interface is better than 8 by far. Will be moving my Z87 to 10 in the next couple weeks, the Z97 will prob remain 7 for a little longer

Thanks man I appreciate the input! Looking forward to getting these parts and firing this bad boy up to see what it can do. Cheers!

If I could get away with one more question. Regarding the mobo, do you recommend any brands to look into? I know all these z170 motherboards are brand new so there isn't much to go off of at this moment but are there any brands in particular I should be looking at as trustworthy and quality brands? I was just going to go with the upgrade for what I was already going for originally with the z170 Asus Maximus VII Hero but doing some reading Gigabyte also came up as a brand I should look into. I'm not particularly tech-savvy but people seem to have good things to say about the Alpine Ridge controller that the Gigabyte mobos seem to have an exclusive on at the moment. Would you have any recommendations? Sorry for all the questions!
