Windows 7 Failed Install on RAID

Bit of a story here…

So a few months ago I built a Media PC. I was having this issue where after the Windows 7 install, my desktops application would all freeze/buffers. I could move my mouse around but nothing was responsive. I would have to hard reboot the computer, and upon trying to boot into Windows, it would fail. Basically, it would just sit at the Windows Logo and never move from there.

I’m using the Asrock 97 Anniversary Edition motherboard, so I use the RAID drivers right from their site. The install itself goes over fine, it’s only when launching Windows that an actual problem occurs.

Eventually, I remove the RAID and re-RAIDED the drives, and when install Windows, created a separate partition for it. Everything worked good for about 3 months, then last week we had a series of power outage and I couldn’t boot into Windows again. I tried numerous things, but ultimately I decided to install Windows again.

And now, that same problem is back. I reformatted the drivers and install the RAID drivers, did my Windows install, and now my desktop froze and I can’t boot back into Windows after a hard reboot. The only thing I didn’t do was create a separate partition for Winodws, like the last time. But should I really need to do this?

What could the cause be and how should I go about troubleshooting this? I’m thinking it’s either the mobo or my HDDs (I have 5 WD Reds). I’m guess I’ll put the install on a WD Green I have, un-RAID those drives and run some diagnostics on them… any idea what I should be using or how I should be testing these?

Thanks for any help.

One of my drives has Reallocation Sector Count of 194 - this hasn't gone up in a couple months, since I scanned the HDD when I had the issue the last time and noticed this. There's also 169 Reallocation Event Count... not sure if this would be the cause.
