Are SSHD's now really only 5400rpm (instead of 7200rpm) – if so, is there a noticeable speed difference

Hi Tom's Hardware and community,

I believe I have read somewhere that Solid State Hybrid Drives (SSHD) were originally 7200rpm (the non solid state - moving hard drive portion). However, if I remember correctly, the industry recently changed this too 5400rpm now. The reviews and comparison's I have read with benchmarks seem to have been done a year (or a few) ago when these drives were still 7200rpm. Yes, there usually is a noticeable difference in read and write times between regular 5200 rpm and 7200 rpm drives. I would think this would carry over to any type of drive (to more or less of a degree) as well.

Is Seagate SSHD's now really only 5400rpm (instead of 7200rpm)? I have recently searched on multiple websites and can not find this info on rpm speed (it is almost as if it is being purposely withheld).

If these drives are indeed only 5400rpm, how does it compare to regular 7200rpm HD drives in read and write times?

Is there a significant difference in speed between these 5400rpm drives and the older 7200rpm SSHDs?

Is there a significant difference in speed between these drives and a standard SSD?

I don't see benchmark comparison scores or really any tests done here on Tom's hardware nor really on any other site done with HD benchmark/performance software. How can we get Tom’s to do a comparison benchmark between these different drives (if they have not already). If Tom’s has already done this, or you know another “reliable”/unbiased site that has done this, please direct me to that location.

Thank you.
