Solution
980 ti is better than two 970s.

the 970 sli may outperform in a benchmark, but in real life:

-sli consumes a lot more power than a single card
-sli can be more likely to cause stuttering
-a single card requires no additional configuration whereas sli will need tweaking to work with games and may need to be re-tweaked for each different game.
-980ti has 2 more gb of vram than the 970. vram does not stack with multiple cards. sli 970 will still only give you 4gb vs 980 ti with 6gb. the 980 ti will handle larger resolutions better and support future games better. There are several games that already fill more than 4gb.
-970 suffers from a vram issue. when the card goes over 3.5gb vram, the last .5gb being used can cause frame...

i prefer EVGA as they have great customer service and good quality graphics cards. they also come factory overclocked higher than most other cards.

i own this one:
