I have a Hitachi 500 GB external hard drive, and I can't find the power cord. I have a universal adapter that should work perfectly well, except the hard drive only says DC. It doesn't specify voltage and it doesn't specify polarity. I really don't want to fry my hard drive. Does anybody know how to tell voltage and polarity?
Thanks for your help!

No helpful little +(- - symbols. The power supply label is black plastic and isn't going to come out in a picture but I can tell you what it says. It's a Power Line 600 mA Universal Adapter Model 90333. Input: 100-120 VAC 50/60Hz 0.3A max; Vout DC: 3,4.5,6,7.5,9,12; Current 600 mA. It has a voltage selector on the front that ranges from 3 V to 12 V, and a switch for polarity -(+ + and +(- -. Hopefully this helps. Thanks again!
