a few questions about ram (mixing and finding)

I have a computer pre build pretty simple,

- AMD A10-7800 APU
- AMD r 7800
- 4GB of RAM in 2x2 1866 Mhz
- 1 TB HDD

Now i just noticed i was able to get my hands on a corsair vengeance ddr3 ram, of only 1 stick, and i don't think they're the same brand, speed etc as my current ram(only 2 slots), but could they still be mixed to form 10gb of RAM?

Is it useful at all for me if i take out both the 2gb's and replace them with 1 8gb of ram, not dual channel which i know is good for an APU, but would it be any better?

You shouldn't mix RAM from different brands or different speeds but size doesn't matter too much. For example if I had 1x8gb stick and 1x4gb stick I have 12gb total and it should work perfectly (Of the same brand).
It's probably better to replace it all at once rather than 1 at a time, try not to mix brands or speeds though it might not work very well.
As for dual or single channel it doesn't really matter there are no noticeable performance issues between the two. (sources: I had 1x8gb stick of corsair vengence and I changed to 2x4gb of Kingston HyperX Fury) No real difference in performance between dual and single channel kits.

Thanks for your response, but i have an APU cpu, doesn't that mean dual channel is better? in playing games as Battlefield 4, AC IV, etc.

Yes dual channel is important when using using an APU and will give better performance than just a single channel, Go with 2x4gb sticks and for the speed (MHz) go as fast as your CPU or Mobo allows.

so 1x8gb wouldnt be better than 2x2?

So you would advice me to stick to the 2x2 as it does give me an increase in FPS?
