Hello im new to the fourms,

I've been using Laptops most of my life, Brought a Dell Laptop in 2007 and upgraded to a 2009 Sony Vaio laptop.
My Sony Vaio has been the best long lasting Laptop for 7 years, using it mostly daily only on a desk hocked up to a monitor, never expereniced any crashes or bluescreen, upgraded to Windows 10 and clean installed, works perfectly, however my main goal is to buy latest hardware and switch for a desktop PC
I only use it to play less hardcore games such as Minecraft, It doesn't handle multitasking really well.

I've been thinking about switching to a desktop for quite a long time, looking at desktop cases that are small to fit under my desk and good air flow and easy to do maintenance and upgrades , components that have latest features for Windows 10, VT-x to run VMware as a learning tool to experience other operating systems as a new hobby, Using adobe software and autodesk CAD

My main problems is choosing case that isnt designed for Water cooling. you would be wondering why im choosing these components as a first build, well this is really something that will be powerful enough to handle 1 to 2 Virtual machines with a few programs running on them. as well as the latest Intel Skylake CPU for less overheating features

Here are the things i've chosen to use for my build:

Intel Skylake i5

Thanks for your solutions and tips, i hope this would help me before buyimg the compoents :]

Edit: My Build needs to be under $1000, a case that looks like a stacked rather than a tower would be much better for more room and airflow

you want to in your new build put in a ssd for it speed. for the power supply mine is oversized for most builds the unit is on sale and is the same price as it 750w unit. xfx are rebranded seasonic units. one of the top units if your pc going to be running 24/7. with the power supply your better off buying a slightly larger unit then needed now so if you upgrade latter you have the over head needed without need to replace the power supply. if you have a local micro center wait a few months from today so intel can get the skylake stock up and all the cpu out and the mb vendors all of there motherboards and the ram vendors there rams. right now your going to pay extra to be one of the newer builders of skylake as the new parts are in short supply. on cases now most of them are built for water as there made for people that want to build gaming cases. these case dont turn you back on them as they have space in the back of the mb tray to hide most of your cables. the cosair line of r100-r400 if you can get them on sale are not bad first cases. mid size case will be the easy to build with for first build. the full towers may need extion cable to reach the mb and top cd rom bay.
