Hi there-

I am trying to build my first custom pc and am running into a problem choosing an optical drive. I can not figure out what i need. I would like to use it to burn lots of audio and video files into a library but I don't know even what my options are. Expensive top-end optical drives are okay as this is a very important part of my machine but I am really just looking for a reliable all-in-one combo drive with all the bells and whistles plus maximum read/write speeds etc.

I would like maximum storage on the discs I burn as well and options like light scribe are a plus. Do I need m-disc? Will i benefit from a blu-ray burner if i am mostly burning non-blu ray files? Do I need a quad-layer burner to write maximum files to discs that aren't blu-ray files? Re writable and erasable burners are a must.

Also any suggestions as to where I could find more information on this and what read and write speeds are all about as I searched long and hard yet turned up little helpful information. If you can recommend a good choice for a drive or point me in the direction of just what I am looking for in terms of features and performance I would greatly appreciate this.

Thanks
-Bill
