Googling it didn't helped much... it's a computer engineer language down there, kind of.
I'm right now using 2 gb ram ddr3 to play ETS 2, Worms Reloaded ,GTA IV, and so... I plan to play Hitman 5 also, on this computer.

So ddr3 is better, but with this not-so-new games I play,
1) How much money ddr3 memory would save me for a year, while it's more power efficient than ddr2?
2) What memory shall I use anyway? Would staying with ddr 3 ram cards would be noticable in the games I play?

*Somewhere in the future I'll buy a new rig, for example to play GTA V, because I have core 2 duo. I'm just not a heavy gamer, only a light one.

If I understand question 1, the difference is next to nothing. 1.8v vs 1.5 if using JDEC spec memory. DDR2 can go up to 2.1 or 2.2 for the highest end stuff, while 1.8V DDR3 memory was semi common until the Intel memory controller thing happened and now it goes up to 1.65V. The ~.2V won't amount to much difference in power consumption.

As for question two it really depends on your board. Most C2D boards support the more common for the time DDR2. There were some boards that supported DDR2 and 3, but you can only use one type at a time. I'd honestly just hold off on a ram upgrade until you can upgrade the entire system. C2D makes bad gaming machine right now. I wouldn't even attempt to play GTA4 on that.

Your current motherboard should dictate what DDR level of RAM you can use. I know of backwards compatible boards in terms of CPU's but never RAM.
IF it does take DDR3, and you plan to build another machine at a later date, I would look at what the better end of what your board can take, so atleast you can carry it over (even if only for a short while) when you do upgrade.

IMHO 2gb RAM isn't enough for thoses level of games, regardless of speeds (Mhz)
#(minimum RAM needs)
As GTA is 'fine' with 1GB but that will depend on the OS you run.
ETS 2 needs 4 GB

Hitman 5 being - Hitman: Absolution?

Hitman: Absolution? Yes
I played GTA IV almost smooth on my rig. My mb support both ddr2 and 3.
ETS 2 works smooth too, just the loading with the map mod takes long time.
My rig get very slow and it's disturbing only when I surf the web. every page takes a lot of ram. System commit is 5 gb and I have only 2 gb of ram.
Buying 2 cards of 4 gb each one (8gb sum) or buying just another identical 2 gb ram (4 gb sum) and trust a 1 gb virtual memory when system is out of ram when surfing internet?

*both games with high end graphic config.
