I am an amateur photographer and I am in the process of acquiring an easily up-gradable laptop mainly for photo-editing. It will also be used for surfing the internet, skyping and document preparation etc. The photo-editing software that I will be using is Photoshop CC and I do all my shooting in the RAW format. Based on my understanding of the requirements and a budget of $900 I am considering buying this laptop:

Is this inadequate, adequate or more than necessary. Any advice will be highly appreciated.

Yes, the laptop that you picked will work quite well for Photoshop editing work. I have used less powerful PC/laptop for doing PS editing.

Areas where you will experience a lag will be while using the "clone" tool - this is normal. I get this even when I use my i7-3770K (OC) along with 32 GBs of RAM.

While working with RAW it is advisable to have an external disk with an additional external backup disk to ensure that all your photos are safe. Besides, RAW files are 50MB or greater in size.
