I am fully aware of how often this is asked, but I want to know my best options for doing this without buying a new OS. I have a new Gigabyte motherboard that I am planning to use as a replacement for an old Emachines board. I will be using my same Athlon II X2 CPU and have thermal paste on the way. I do not have the original install disc for my 64-bit Home Premium OEM. Could I just install the new motherboard and have Windows boot up fine, then use my current keys to do the phone activation method that many people recommend? Would a flash drive be helpful for booting from a downloaded ISO or using a restore program like Acronis or Paragon? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Solution
You will need to do a full reinstall with the new hardware.
You may need to buy a new OS license, depending on how lenient MS is with the reactivation.

Hi.
For normal windows 7 booting you must uninstall all HDD-controller drivers (SATA, ATA. SATA_RAID, AHCI etc.) for old mainboard.
And install HDD-controller drivers for new mobo.
Also check, does it AHCI available or not in BIOS settings of old mainboard.
If it turned on, also turn it on in new mainboard for first booting. If off, set it also off for a new mainboard.
Windows must boot normally. But eMachines BIOS also consists SLIC 2.1 record for license your Windows. You must also flash modded BIOS with SLIC 2.1 by eMachines to your Gigabyte mobo to use your eMachines license.
