Hi,
After loading BIOS default settings or turning off PSU + mobo battery removal, my motherboard can't auto detect proper ram timings/speed correctly, which causes infinite loop of turning on and off itself without chance to get on BIOS screen settings.
Let me explain.
My mobo is gigabyte GA-P67A-D3-B3 with latest BIOS update (F7). Previously, I've had 2x 2GB Patriot Gamer DDR3 modules which worked perfectly in any condition.
I've updated my RAM to 2x 8GB DDR3 1866mhz Hyperx Fury Kingston which causes the problem related above.
Now, I can definitely prove that it is the mobo issue because of this test:
1. Reset BIOS settings (PSU off + mobo battery removed) and put the old RAM kit
2. Turn the computer ON
3. Enter BIOS, set ram timings and clock speed to 1600mmhz, exit and save BIOS settings
4. Turn computer OFF
5. Change RAM to the new Kingston kit
6. Turn computer ON, go to BIOS and set timings/clock and everything works fine for long periods.
Problem is, I've sold the old ram memory kit and I can't make these steps. And now I'm trapped because I've had power failure today and needed to reset the BIOS default settings.
This really really sucks. I've tried:
- Using only one memory stick in any slot
- Removing mobo battery, HDs/DVD sata and power cables, VGA graphics, PCI cards
I could borrow/buy some cheap ddr3 memory but that's just dumb and stupid to resolve a problem. I really don't know what to do.
