I am wondering if the GTX 970 will physically fit in my Dell XPS 8700... I've seen a video of someone getting it in (albeit, with some hassle). and now i'm wondering, approximately, how much clearance i'd have in the case...

There you will find exact GPU models already installed, so you don't have to worry about compatibility and card size.
