Will any processor that fits am3+ socket work for that motherboard?

My motherboard is a Gigabyte GA-M68MT-S2P (rev. 3.1). I'm finally deciding to upgrade from my phenom 2 duo core to something with more power. My socket is am3+ but when I go to look at compatible cpu's on the companies sites it gives me the list of supported fx am3+ processors.
AMDFX-8100
AMD FX-6120
AMD FX-6100
AMD FX-4170
AMD FX-4150
AMD FX-4100
Say I wanted to buy the AMD FX 8300 which fits a am3+ socket. Will it work even though it's not on the list for the motherboard? Does this also hold true for other am3+ socket units that may not be on the list?

On a side note I plan to be adding a new graphics card something in the 700 series in nvidia which is compatible with the mother board even though it's pci expressx16 2.0. Since I'm doing these upgrades depending on my question from above, would it be better to just replace the motherboard all together?

Thanks

The biggest underlying issue -- I was about to correct Vanilla Sprinkles, but they already noticed the error -- is that the Gigabyte GA-M68MT-S2P is not an AM3+ motherboard. As bignasty said, it will not support the Piledrivers and I second the notion about only upgrading if you're moving to a new platform.

Thank you. So say I did buy AMD Fx8100 or above, even though it's am3+ socket would it even start up? Or would it just not be able to use the processor to the full potential? I also read this on my motherboard information "If you install AMD AM3+/AM3 CPU on this motherboard, the system bus speed will downgrade from HT3.0 (5200MT/s) to HT1.0 (2000 MT/s) spec; however, the frequency of AM3+/AM3 CPU will not be impacted. Please refer "CPU Support List" for more information." What exactly does this mean?

Thanks

Thanks, I will most likely get a new motherboard then.
