So I'm adding storage to my build which already has a 120GB SSD and 2TB WD Black. The second drive is almost full so I want to add some space. Since I have a 2TB WD Passport on hand I'm wondering if there exists a cable to link this portable drive directly to one of the SATA III ports on my motherboard and use it interally. I haven't taken the portable drive out of its enclosure but I imagine it probably has the Micro SATA port integrated to the circuit board.
I know people have been able to use the external drives internally in the past, but with drives that weren't integrated with Micro SATA. I've done some searching but I couldn't find a Micro SATA to SATA cable. Are there cables for this? If so, where would I find one? Also, would this drive perform worse than an internal drive with this cable instead? It doesn't matter too much to me if it's slower since I'm using it for storing photos and vids, but I'm curious.
