PC won't shutdown properly after installing a second internal HDD

Hello,

I recently installed a second hard drive (WD Black 1TB) and ever since, whenever I want to shutdown my PC, it would go through this strange process:

After closing all programs, the screen would go black and the PC would shutdown, but something inside would still be spinning and "working". A few seconds later, the PC would turn itself back on for a second and then shutdown again, this time completely.

I have no idea what could cause this strange behaviour, but I am guessing it might be something to do with the hard drive as it started right after I installed it.

Welcome to the community, MartynasB!

I'm really sorry to hear about the issues you are encountering with the system ever since you've added the WD Black! :( I'd recommend you to back up any data that you have on the drive elsewhere before proceeding with the troubleshooting.
Does the system boot properly with the WD Black inside though? I'd also suggest you to run some malware/anti-virus scans on the PC.
The first thing you need to do about the WD Black is testing it with the WD's Data LifeGuard Diagnostic tool. Running the QUICK and EXTENDED test from the utility will help us determine the health and SMART status of the HDD. Here's a link to the software: http://products.wdc.com/support/kb.ashx?id=mzypZz
Another thing I'd try to resolve the issue is use a different SATA cable for the drive and maybe even try plugging in a different SATA port on the motherboard. If you have any other computers around you, it's strongly recommended to plug the WD Black there and see how it will react to the other system.

Keep me posted. :)

Yes, apart from the strange shutdown process, the drive works just fine. It boots perfectly, it doesn't emit any strange sounds, it doesn't fail. Both Hard Drive Sentinel and HD Tune Pro report no errors and the hard drive "health" is at perfect 100%. I'll run some virus and malware scans immediately, though.

I will use the tool you linked and report the results. Unfortunately, I don't have any other desktop PCs to test out the drive, but if everything else yields no results, I will try to change the SATA port.

Okay, I ran both the QUICK and EXTENDED tests and they both passed successfully. Both malware and standard virus scans were clean, no viruses. I will try to plug the SATA cable into a different port, see how that works.
