Says I've got 4GB ram but in fact I've got 8GB

So I was just looking at the performance tab on my PC and I noticed something, It said I have got 4GB ram.
Now as far as i'm concerned, I actually noticed that my PC was getting rather laggy recently and I think I found the reason why.

Please help, it's effecting not only my gaming performance but also my day to day use of this PC.

What does the BIOS say you have?

I presume you are using 64 bit Windows.

What is your RAM config? 2x4GB sticks?

Have you tried re-seating the RAM in their slots?

Up in the upper right corner, it tells you that you have 6GB and down on the lower right side, it tells you that you have 2GB hardware reserved.

My guess is that you have a GPU that is mounted on the motherboard, and that 2GB of system memory is reserved for it.
