I am a beginner looking to make a budget gaming computer which should hopefully last me about 5 years or more.
I have listed below the main components that I have been thinking about for my budget gaming PC build which are available at a reasonable price here in Norway (converted everything from NOK to USD). I have available $475 dollar to complete my PC build by choosing from components below. If you want to suggest something not in my list, then please check its price in Norway on PrisJakt website before because things are expensive here.

I have already chosen 1 TB Seagate HDD, 8 GB DDR3 RAM, Cooler Master Silencio 452 Mid Tower Case.

Please suggest what would be best possible build from the following options. Thanks very much!

Got with this
1 year used, never OCed, Intel Core i5-3570k with stock cooler ($156) + microATX ASRock H61M-VG4 ($54) = $210
New MSI Radeon R9 280 GAMING 3 GB = $229
Corsair CS650M 650W = $119
Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo = $41

this is way over his budget, and the PSU you picked is not good quality.

OP I checked the site and what @CTurbo suggested is the best you can get for you budget, you can maybe downgrade PSU to 450w XFX if you dont plan to upgrade you PC in the future

It cant be over his budget since this from the list of parts OP posted.
Also there is nothing wrong with PSU. you must really dislike corsair..

Please see the updated budget and the cost of used i5 and i7. I posted them wrong by mistake. Everything else is same.

What do you think about this build:

1 year used Intel Core i7-3770S without cooler ($103) + microATX ASRock H61M-VG4 ($54) = $157
1.5 yrs used MSI Gaming Radeon R9 280x 3 GB = $155
XFX Core Edition 750W = $120
Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo = $41

Total = $473

By the way, the used processor and used graphic card are not from Ebay, they from a local Norwegian website where people sell second hand items and I feel it is more reliable then Chinese and Hong Kong sellers on Ebay.

Thanks!

Yes, because if i say "PSU is not good quality", it means that i hate Corsair, XFX PSU is cheaper and better quality. Here is proof http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/id-2547993/psu-tier-list.html

Akhil10 ^ I would say yes mate to your choice if you're happy with second hand - I would have gone 3570k but its more open to overclocking abuse than the 3770s at the end of the day.

You can save $30 - the xfx core 550 is fine for those components.

Can you squeeze this mb into budget if you go with the 550w PSU as it has sata 3 & usb3
asus p8h67pro-m

If that's too expensive then this is the next best choice
ASRock H61M-DG3/USB3

I would like to suggest MB that supports SLI or crossfire support and adequate power supply 600w + in case you go that route.
single r9 power draw is 200-240w X 2 that's 480 at max load, not to mention other core components. I know its stretching op's budget but at least its more future proof. In case he decided to go that route and get another gpu in a year, w/out blowing money on a whole new system.

I do not really want to buy 2 graphic cards because the only intensive game I will play really is GTA 5 and Mirror Edge 2 when it comes out and other games will be Fifa, COD4, COD6, Black ops etc. I think one should be able to handle them fine. But I am not really understanding this power supply thing. Some websites like this are suggesting 750 W power supply for 280x while others are suggesting 650W and some people are suggesting 550 W. What is the correct answer? Thanks very much!

That xfx 550w core will run a 3770s or a 3570k with a 289x easily with 100w clear headroom even with the system fully load - this will never even happen unless your stress testing both CPU & GPU simultaneously.

Put thought into the boards I mentioned - your buying into an old socket with the 1155 which I dont have a problem with but that Asus p67 is bang upto date with sata 3 & usb3 onboard.
The other asrock at least has usb3 (albeit sata2).

What about this mb - ASUS Mod 1155 P8B75M-Plus

This has SATA 3 and USB3 also and is cheaper. Is B75 chipset better than H61 and H67?

Thanks.

good find mate - yep that'll do the job nicely -it only has 1 x sata 3 port (the rest are sata 2) but essentially if you ever add an ssd that port will give you full speed read/writes which is all you need - it also supports both the 3770s & 3570k on its first revision bios so you're all good mate.

SO long as those used components are good condition mate youre going to have a cracking mid range gaming build for your money with a 3770s/3570k & a 280x - & trust me on the 550w xfx psu - it is absolutely plenty for what youre building.

Great!
By the way I was just told that the used r9 280x card was not used for gaming but for making Bit Coins (whatever that means). Is that a good thing or a bad thing? Should I still go ahead and buy it`?

Also, there is no compatibility problems between AMD graphic card and intel core i7, right?

Thanks very much!
I appreciate your help!

It CAN be a very bad thing mate - it depends how it was looked after,& how it was used.
Ive bought bitcoin mining cards in the past but these were run at very low voltage as the shader engines are not needed.
If theyve been kept at a decent temperature then there will be no ill affects but people who dont know what theyre doing can really really put them under some massive abuse & stress.

You may want to reconsider & go for the second hand 670 mate in all honesty, cant recommend any of the new cards at these pricepoints really apart from the 960 - which is like $70 more & performs more or les the same as the 670.

Here is the link to the r9 280x- link
The guy says he used them nicely, but he might be lying. Also, he is willing to take fraction or full payment using NVIDIA maxwell cards ( 750 , 750ti , 960 , 970 , 980 or 980ti).

In this case, 670 might be better? I am very confused.

Ok. I will go with 670 now. This guy was running two of them in SLI and is upgrading, which is why he is selling. Sounds more legit. Also, I think I will buy i5 instead of i7 because the i7 seller is also selling 9 of them. But the i5 guy is selling one processor only because he is upgrading his motherboard.

Thanks very much mate! I cant thank you enough. You just saved me hundreds of dollars.

the 670's couldnt be used for bitcoin mining mate so youre fairly safe & sli will likely mean the card was never really pushed that hard.

Honestly Id be inclined towards the 3770s mate more than the 3570k .
The seller will have a lot most likely because theyre generally a business class chip & tend to come in HP & Dell prebuilds & the like - the 3770s is likely to have had much much less use than that i5!

Fantastic. But does my power requirement change with GTX 670. Which PSU should I get?
