Bear with me i am making sure you have the answers you need to solve my question....Thanks for looking...

So got a 160gb WD WD1600 External HDD, using laptop with Sp3 XP. HAD that issue before where the drives pci/usb adapter cable fouled up, Hdd went from FAT to RAW to Unallocated. So bought a Apricorn SATA wire and did a little troubleshooting that many have already seen and it continued working til last night (a full six months)
The issue now is that I attempted to connect to a new Win8 laptop and received the USB 3.0 read error which it never did read eventually. So I connect it back to my trusty XP 2.0 USB, and the Ext. Drive went RAW, then to totally Unallocated losing its Drive Letter G: when I tried reassigning the drive letter and I think I swapped the PBR with a MBR (BAD IDEA) ; im using Hirens Boot CD. NOW the various known tips of recovery are not working, im getting Data Redundancy cyclic error on cylinders when I try Disk Genius, TestDisk, Partition Find and Mount.

Actual drive info in Disk Genius, the CHS info shows legit information so I know its not totally gone, it doesn't show the Hardware as the WD WD1600....only shows Apricorn SATAwire as the hardware.. cannot find any other way posted to REINSTATE original PBR (boot record), its Unallocated in DiskMgmt, invisible on PC. Devices n USB, are driver updated and all kosher. I've got HiRenS Boot CD, but DOS tools are not loading. Please get my drive going again. Any figure-outers who want the challenge?

Welcome to the community, kushlincoln!

I'm sorry to hear about your issues with the WD Caviar SE drive! :(
It seems like you've done the impossible to get your hands on your data. However, I'd recommend you to run some diagnostic tests on the HDD before attempting recovery of your files. If there is any physical damage present on the drive, I don't think they'd do you any good anyway. Here's a link to WD's Data LifeGuard Diagnostics: http://products.wdc.com/support/kb.ashx?id=bnVnna
Make sure you run both the QUICK and EXTENDED tests in order to determine the health and SMART data status of the drive.

I also think that it's time to consider a professional data recovery company as I'm not sure what more you can do on your own to retrieve your files. I can suggest you to take a look at WD's Data Recovery Partners worldwide: http://products.wdc.com/support/kb.ashx?id=JlDmw2

Hope this helps. Keep me posted!
