I have a b85 and Z97 motherboards and they both take like 4 seconds to POST. There is only one drive.. and my AM3+ board takes TEN seconds just to show the GIGABYTE LOGO and then some more to start loading windows. My question is why do laptops POST so much faster? I mean my ASUS x550j takes 5 seconds to load Windows not to POST.
So please tell me is there a PC motherboard that POSTs for less than 2 seconds like a laptop. Ofcourse I'm not sayng every laptop POSTs that fast but it is notisable how the screen shows the logo right after you press the power button unlike the PCs.

Solution
laptops post faster as they have less to check

even though you only have one drive it will still check to make sure no other drives are present

turning off drive controllers and other stuff like firewire etc that arent used can speed it up if your pc has more than one

drive controller
