Mouse disconnects randomly; with a twist.

Long story short: I've bought an esoteric German mouse by Logilink (Logilink ID0105). It has worked flawlessly for many years. But recently, it had begun to randomly disconnect itself from the PC, accompanied by the pop-up and the sound.

At first I thought that it was the mouse reaching its end, for when I was on the desktop, it kept turning on and off. However... when I was in-game that was not reliant on a cursor, it never shut off and worked as intended; once the cursor was evoked, it resumed its behavior.

My question is: is it an issue with a driver (even though this mouse did not require any proprietary software), Windows, or my mouse?

The OS in question is Windows XP SP3 and SP2 on the second testing PC; the games tested were Team Fortress 2 and Garry's Mod.

I had that exact same problem too.... with a Corsair mouse. I immediately went to the store that I bought it from and they gave me a new same model mouse. That fixed the problem for 2 days but the problem persisted after. I then got a new mouse (the CMSTORM combo with the keyboard) and it wasn't expensive at all; I got it for €47 and no problems yet (going in a year and a half now). My guess would be that your PC doesn't support the mouse's driver since that's what I think happened to me. I suggest getting a new one which was the solution for me, but inform the store clerk so that I you have the same problem again, they would refund you or something. And if you're interested in buying the one that i got, here is the link :)...
