I'm getting a whole new PC, however im not sure what to get. I've come up with two builds but i'm not sure which one is better. Also i'm not sure if i should wait to get an i5 6600k or just get an i5 4690k. The build is in Australian dollars.

Looks like you've got a few key decisions to make.

First - 4th gen vs. 6th gen. Unless a difference of about 5% in total system cost is going to make or break your budget, I'd definitely suggest 6th gen is worth the extra few bucks. It seems silly to build a brand new computer using a 2 year old architecture when the 6th gen stuff is more or less available.

Second - AMD vs nVidia graphics. I tend to stay away from AMD for numerous reasons. I'm comfortable that nVidia's drivers won't suck. I like their features, physx. I enjoy the fact that my graphics card uses much less electricity than an AMD card with equivalent frame rates would. I just feel all around better being green.

Third: PSU. The Tier 2 XFX 80+ gold 650 watt is more power than you'll need for any single GPU build (especially if it's a green GPU), and it's gold, so it'll be more efficient. The Tier 3 EVGA is more expensive, less efficient, and even more overkill for your build. You don't want that one.

So that's my 3 cents. Hope this helps.

stay with the 4th gen 6th gen cost more money and has very little performance increase whatsoever, change the power supply from the first build to the second, use the r9 390 over gtx 970 because the vram on the 970 is actually 3.5gb the other 500mb is unusable and also the 390 is more future proof with 8gb vram also the cpu cooler with that case is going to be an EXTREMLY tight fit it might not even fit in that case other than that the 4690k build looks pretty solid you can run ANY game at full settings smooth good luck =)

I am Planning on adding an SSD Soonish after the initial build, for now i can't afford one with the parts above.
Also i think i'll change the case to NZXT Source 530 ATX Full Tower Case, it seems fairly good - what do you think?

I took a look at the case and it looks like a great fit for your build good luck =)
