I need a good quality one with a nice looking lcd display. I've been looking for several days and can only find a couple of crappy looking ones. I would prefer one with a full screen, no card readers or usb ports. A few small buttons or touch screen would be perfect. Thanks in advance.

- XFX TS Series 550W PSU

Go for the one that looks the best. When it comes to fan controllers they all essentially do the same thing, so buy one that you think looks the best or suits your case the best.

Personally, I'm a fan of the NZXT series, and like the look of the Sentry 2:

The Sentry Mesh also looks good if you have a meshed front case:

or the Sentry Mix 2 for a more understated look:

But as long as you...

Thanks for the response. I'm amazed there are so few above average rated ones out there with full displays. What brands are good? NZXT, nMEDIAPC, AeroCool, 1ST PC CORP, or Other. I'm a total noob when it comes to these.

I like the Sentry-2 as well. I'm concerned that one person mentioned the wires melting, and another saying it caught fire. A majority of the 872 reviews are positive though. So it's hard to tell if the negatives are legit, or if some people installed it poorly (i.e Wires laying on a hot component).

If you look at any product made by a major manufacturer, all of them will have a few negative reviews. All Manufacturers make mistakes sometimes, and defective products do slip past quality control from time to time.

My guess is that those two defective units came from only one batch that was affected, and you should be fine ordering one. It could also be that some people had other defective parts in their PC or did not install the controller correctly and that resulted in it melting or malfunctioning. NZXT is reputed company that will honor it's warranty in the rare case that something does go wrong, so in the worst case all you have to do is send it back for a replacement.

Still not convinced? Let me give you an example: many people who bought the NXZT Hue (RGB LED case lighting strip and controller.) installed it in their cases, they found that only the red and green LEDs lit up. When NZXT looked into the issue, they found that this was caused by plugging in the LED strip in backwards! So it isn't always that a product is defective, it can also be a design quirk or user error.

You have me convinced. I've never used a fan controller, so these brands are mostly new to me. It's good to know that NZXT is a reputed company. I like the Sentry-2 best by far. It looks the nicest, will do everything I need, and now I know that it's a good brand. Therefore, She's a winner.

I don't build computers enough to know what's all out there. Up until this build, I've always built on a budget, and buy only the absolute necessary components. So believe it or not, I had no idea LED strips even existed. I must go check those out now. :)

Thanks for all your help!
