I recently, got a 500$ laptop, to be better for gaming, and recording YouTube videos (It didn't need to be over the top because of the Windows 10 game capture not taking as much CPU as a normal screen recorder) It has a very nice Dual core i7 5500 Processor, but I was wondering if it would be possible to change the GPU from and Intel HD graphics 5500, to any better GPU, and for what price? Thanks

The Intel HD graphics 5500 chip is incorporated in to the CPU so obviously you can't change it.

However, that model should have "switchable graphics" with a discrete, high-performance NVIDIA GeForce 840M graphics card for running games and other applications which demand more graphics power than the Intel chip can provide.

The idea behind having two graphics chips is simple - - the Intel one uses less battery power when the Nvidia one isn't required (ie just for running the Windows shell).

In Windows Control Panel there should be an Nvidia Control Panel with which you can configure which applications should use the Nvidia graphics. Once configured, your laptop will automatically switch to the Nvidia graphics card whenever you start that application.

Some applications will be pre-configured, others you can add to the list manually.

I use Windows 7 on my laptop which has switchable Nvidia graphics, so I can't provide step-by-step for Windows 10.
But the Nvidia Control Panel is fairly consistent across all Windows versions, just click on the '3D settings' tab and you should see the switchable graphics configuration.

I remeber I used to be able to access that by right-clicking my desktop, along with the Intel HD Graphics 5500 CP, when I first got my computer about a month ago. Would I be able to download an NVidia driver to get it to reappear, and where?
