My mom has a Dell B1160W laser printer that she uses for school and its been having a ton of issues recently.
1st - we cant seem to download any kind of drivers. She originally had windows 8.1 and the drivers for whatever reason, whether she got them from the disk or off the dell support site, would not install. I had to install the drivers on my PC (when I was running windows 7) and set the printer up as a network device so she could print things. Fast forward to today and we have both upgraded to windows 10 (I did a clean install and she just did the normal upgrade). When i went to install the drivers again from the website on my PC to set the printer back up to the network, I could not as there were no drivers for windows 10 for this device, The Dell site said to download older drivers and run them in compatibility mode for windows 10 but they haven't installed successfully at all. Is there no way for me to install these drivers at all or am I missing something?
2nd - I have since got the printer to connect via the "add a printer option" under devices and printers (its not listed with the proper name for what ever reason but it still works kinda) on the control panel, however, it CONSTANTLY goes offline at random times for no apparent reason. I figured it might be the drivers but im not too sure. How can I fix this?
