Sys fan 1 doesn't work so would a y splitter work for cpu fan and case fans?

My motherboard has a cpu fan slot and one other fan slot which is, "sys 1 fan". My case has a fan hub, but when I plug it into the sys fan 1 slot the case fans don't work. (But my cpu fan is plugged into the cpu fan slot and only the cpu fan works.) On the other hand if I plug the fan hub into the cpu slot the Case fans start working, but at the cost of my cpu cooler. Should I get a y 4 pin y spliiter and would it work for this case?

Y Splitter I might get: http://www.frys.com/product/6524853?site=sr:SEARCH:MAIN_RSLT_PG

Then I guess you're stuck with using a splitter off the CPU fan header. I'd HIGHLY recommend you replace that OEM board with an aftermarket model at your earliest ability to do so. There are many inexpensive aftermarket boards that support the FM2 socket like that one, but with far better features and configurability like this one:

Not "slot", "header". Fans and other hardware connect to "headers" on the motherboard. Fans, SATA and USB cables all connect to "headers", not slots. Slots are what your memory and PCIe devices like sound and graphics cards connect and are installed into. Just so you know the correct terminology.

Honestly, I'd get a different motherboard. But for the motherboard you have, I'd say that using a fan splitter in order to run things off the CPU fan header is wrong. The CPU fan signal is predicated off a different temperature sensor than the case fans should be using. CPU temps go up and down, and thus the CPU fan goes up and down, much faster than case fans do or ever should.

Do your case fans work if you plug one of them directly into the sys_fan header and have you bothered to check the bios settings to see if the sys_fan header is even enabled? If it's disabled in the bios, then of course things aren't going to work when plugged into it. Check that the header is enabled in the bios and that a fan will operate when plugged directly into the Sys_fan header, and go from there.

As a last resort, using a splitter in the way that you've described will work as a temporary measure, but is probably not the best idea for the long term.

I would also avoid a cheap splitter like the one you linked to. Instead, go with something like this:

Thanks for the quick reply, but I recently upgraded my pc, thus creating the problem above. And I cant do much of what you said because...
1. I can't enter BIOS because whenever I bootup a screen comes up with my Hardware info and saying f1:Boot.
2. When I press f12 or delete or other buttons to enter bios a startup menu comes up and when I try to enter BIOS it just says <...> Press Enter to select. Which just brings me back to the bootup menu.
3. In my old case the fan worked in sys fan 1, but it was only 1 exhaust fan, giving me more of a reason to upgrade

Alright. At first the case fans wouldn't work in my new mobo unless I plugged it into the cpu fan header. But, I took the case fans out of the fan hub and plugged them directly into the mobo fan headers an they work like a charm! Thanks for all your help and time!
