So lets get started. Im building a budget gaming rig for me. now i researched all over the internet and came with these components :

I3-4170 / I5-4460
8GB RAM (2x4) 1600mhz
either B85M-G or B85 (normal size MB)
GTX 750 TI or GTX 960 . (still thinking about it cuz remember this is a budget gaming pc )
1TB seagate
500 watts psu
about the case , ill just ask the pc store guy what will suit my parts. cuz i dont know if they have stock on all of the case

1.I do not overclock
2.Not thinking to upgrading next year or so (maybe i will just build a new rig for that)
3.I will use this for Gaming,Microsoft word for school projects, watching movies, web browsing.
4.i do not render videos
5.Games i will play are (Dota 2,GTA V and other latest games)
6. ofc you will guys say 750 ti is better than 960 lol . but is 750ti is enough for my gaming needs?

Question
1.Is there a big difference with I3-4170 and I5 4460
2.What other motherboard that can suit me with B85 price range. im from philippines so pc parts are so overpriced here.
3.as i was saying, is 750ti is enough for my gaming needs?
4. i might have more question in the future

thanks in advance.

Solution
I wouldn't downgrade your CPU, just wait to get more money or try to find a flash deal or something! i5 are the best budget gaming processors , so it would be a pitty if you had yo take an i3 instead...

As I said, I don't know much about philippine's stores and brands, but try to be patient and find a nice deal within the next weeks...if you get frustrated or you see there's no progress at all...then well, you can go for a lower price component and get a nice GPU, which it's actually the core item on gaming PCs.

As I said, it's up to you, but it would be nice to have an i5 :)

The i5 4460 would be better for GAMING, they would be the same in web browsing and working. Since you wont be overclocking you should buy a H97 motherboard. What PSU brand/model will you buy?! The 960 would be better but I recommend a r9 380

1. Go with the i5, it's quite better because it's a whole new generation: more cores, threads, and other minor/major improvements.
2. As said, go with an H97 MoBo if you are not planning on OCing.
3. I would take the 960, it's a nice pick, you should be able to run many games in high on 1080p and it's better on power efficency/heat than the 750ti, plus it's another gen of GPU so again, it has many improvements and the price difference it's not big.
4. 750ti will not be enough if you're planning on playin latest games on high/very high. Anyways, I think a 960 is a far better investment.

It doesn't ship to my country either. Really sucks =( I was just saying so OP can keep it in mind when adjusting his budget, since newegg really has the best prices but he won't be able to take advantage of that =/

according to Techspot benchmarks for gaming with gpu like gtx 960 or lower there isn't much difference between core i3 and i5 ..
and also no need to buy a H97 MB , B85 Mb have enough options to serve you well

~50$ difference between said i3 and i5, definitely worth it: i5 is a better investment for the future and durability of the PC, has impact (maybe low) on gaming and also improves significantly the quality of the PC for general purposes.

B85 might be enough, but again, I would not rather save 15-20 bucks on a lower quality chipset. Investing 15$ more is not gonna make you poor, and buying a Z97 or H97 rewards with better quality and a much longer lifespan.

This said, if his budget is extremely tight, he might save 75$ lowering his CPU and MoBo quality, ye, but I don't really see the point on it if he's planning on building a decent PC.

Some prices may vary a little bit, but for ~650-700$ you can get a good PC for gaming. You could also improve the GPU if you're willing to expend some more bucks.

Monitor and case are not included: just pick a nice budget monitor that you like and you said you were asking the store guy about the case.

How about the 750ti? And what's the price for the other components? Are they as overpriced as the GPU? Also, tell us what's your budget, so we know what to pick if you can't afford the previous build.

Maybe a r9 380. Or a used 280x, even new ones are pretty cheap.

I don't like neither suggest AMD GPUs. However, the choice it's up to OP.

What I do suggest, OP, is doing some research and deciding by yourself on the NVIDIA vs AMD debate, since each person will have a different opinion on the subject on every forum.

Well chosen, my friend! I suggest a 500W PSU from a well-known brand, ye, like EVGA, Seasonic, Rosehill...for more (and expert) info on PSUs, you can always check this thread:

Cheers!
